Ready Set ... GO!

I am getting all geared up for our training for our three day walk!!
I am looking forward to working it up for the big day! 3 day walk, wow that is a lot!

I have been reading blogs on how to gear up for the big day. I think I've been touched by others stories and their journey with breast cancer, I feel the need to contribute.

I am Ellie, walking for the cure. You don't know how much this effects you personally until the day you feel a lump, although you know you really have nothing to worry about "says the doctor", it lives with you in the back of your mind until you get checked. I lived this way for about 5 months. I was either to scared to go in to hear some more bad news, or my family doctor was way to busy to be seen. Finally after waiting and enough time passed I went in to hear the news that "you don't have one lump, in fact you have two".

I think that scared me most of all.

I sat with the thought that, nah this isn't anything, woman have these all the time, but when I had my ultra sound scheduled and then told I would have fluid extracted ... yeah, I was officially scared.

I got lucky, turns out it was a small cyst, but how many woman do you know that, it simply isn't the case?

They fight with surgery, chemo, becoming ill and weak and still fight. I am walking for those who have lost the battle, those who are fighting it still, and those who don't know what they are to face, I am walking for a choice, a choice that some woman don't get to have because there is no cure yet.

I am walking for the cure!
